I once accidentally shon a green laser into my camera.

No, it was written in a magazine I read this month too.

Pretty nasty when you consider all the wee brats running around with laser pens who I'm sure would love to ruin someone's sensor!

Must be something up with 5D's that makes it break them. One of my taxi drivers out in Vegas had a laser pen in his cab, and used to try to blind tourists cameras when we were waiting at traffic lights. He said it did something similar to Parry's photo.
