Am I paranoid enough for the outside?

« on: May 28, 2010, 09:15:29 AM »

I am seriously tempted by this, being a big guy.

My only worry is getting wheels, tubes and tyres

For those unable to click, its a 22" wheeled BMX

Not worth it, for the reasons you said.
They've been around for ages, and haven't gained any popularity.

I'm 6'3" and rode a 20" perfectly fine, it's all about the correct toptube size.

I'm looking for a bmx, but am struggling to find tt size on websites.

Any suggestions for a sub £200 bmx?
I know the budget is shit but I don't mind upgrading bits later.

Don't ,mind 2nd hand btw...

How tall are you? IIRC you're around my height so i'm aim for a 21" toptube, and remember that bars can be upgraded for taller ones as well.

To be honest, at that money i wouldn't bother with a new one, the frame and fork will be made out of poo hi-ten steel.

Keep an eye on eBay and the classifieds on SDH and bikeguide.org

Edit: I know it's way above your budget but this would be ideal http://www.alansbmx.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=8778

Been offered a wtp addict (20.6" tt according to the facts) 2008 model for £175, which seems steep to me.
also a Houdini 21" for ~£130 (haggling at the moment)

im 6'6" and would probably switch to 8" bars straight off

edit: too much for me im afraid, but i will use it as a guide

I can try tomorrow, generally speaking is that build (assume cranks are budget) worth the dollar?
The guy is unknown to me but its on a different forum and he seems legit. Plus I will be meeting him in person to get it so if its a rattly shed I cvan walk away.

naff cranks, I'd be upgrading those straight away, along with some slam bars and a new stem... everything else looks up to the job though.

I may be selling my Fit S3 soon if you're interested?

Spec:
Fit S3 Aitken Frame
Federal Bars and forks
Stolen Convict stem (brand new)
Snafu cranks
Deluxe sprocket (brand new)

Wheels:
Alex rims
Cant remember the hubs its on, nothing special and the cones are a bit loose.

I havnt decided for sure whether im selling it for definate yet though. My plan was to build up a bmx just for park and street and use my big bike for dirt and 4X.

I think if you had epilepsy you would know it. Most likely low blood pressure.

Thank you Dr Jordy. If only Parryman had seen you instead of wasting valuable NHS time!
